EDMONTON — More than $7 million worth of drugs, over $1.1 million in cash and 17 firearms have been seized in what ALERT says is one of the largest investigations in the agency’s history.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams says the seizure followed a 10-month investigation into an alleged drug trafficking network operating primarily between Edmonton and Calgary.
Investigators allege the organization used vehicles with hidden compartments to transport drugs and cash between Alberta’s two largest cities.
Search warrants were executed at homes in Edmonton, Calgary, St. Albert and Sturgeon County, including six properties searched on July 16.
ALERT says officers seized 66.5 kilograms of cocaine, 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly 3,500 suspected fentanyl pills, 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2.3 kilograms of psilocybin mushrooms, 17 firearms, eight vehicles and $1,156,863 in cash.
The agency says the cash seizure is the largest in its 20-year history. The cash and vehicles are being pursued as offence-related property through Alberta’s Civil Forfeiture Office.
The firearms, including six handguns and 11 rifles, will undergo forensic and ballistic testing to determine whether they may have been used in other crimes.
Several suspects were arrested during the investigation, but no charges have been laid. ALERT says the investigation remains ongoing as officers prepare reports for Crown prosecutors.
The investigation began in November 2025 and involved ALERT’s Edmonton organized crime team, the Edmonton Police Service, Calgary Police Service and the RCMP.
