FORT McMURRAY — Father Mercredi High School celebrated its graduating Class of 2026 on Friday, marking the completion of the students’ secondary education and the beginning of the next stage of their academic, career and personal journeys.
School officials praised the graduates for their perseverance, character and contributions to the school community.
Principal Jason Campbell described the graduating class as a resilient and spirited group of young adults and encouraged students to carry their sense of school pride with them as they move forward.
Campbell said the school’s “Trapper Family” was proud of the accomplishments of the graduates and wished them success in the years ahead.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Superintendent Natasha MacArthur-Poole said the graduates leave the division having been shaped by faith, compassion, service and hope.
She said students’ time within the Catholic school system involved more than academic achievement, emphasizing personal growth, service to others and the development of values rooted in faith.
MacArthur-Poole encouraged graduates to continue demonstrating kindness, courage and service as they pursue new opportunities after high school.
She also reminded students they remain part of the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools community as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
Graduation ceremonies across the region continue as students from local high schools celebrate the completion of their studies and prepare for post-secondary education, apprenticeships, careers and other future opportunities.
