2022 Regional Emergency Services Firetruck
FORT McMURRAY — The Fort McMurray Firefighters Association is recognizing Battalion Chief Matthew Collins following his retirement after 29 years with the Fort McMurray Fire Department.
Collins joined the department on Sept. 2, 1997, and advanced through the ranks before retiring June 17 as a battalion chief.
During his nearly three-decade career, Collins also served as union treasurer, was a member of the department’s promotion board and helped lead cholesterol testing clinics aimed at supporting firefighter health and wellness.
The firefighters association credited Collins with providing leadership and mentorship throughout his career while making lasting contributions to both the department and the firefighting profession.
Collins retired June 17 after nearly three decades of service to the Fort McMurray community.
