CALGARY — Alberta is using one of the world’s largest energy conferences to promote the province as a reliable supplier of oil, natural gas and critical minerals amid ongoing global supply concerns and geopolitical instability.
Premier Danielle Smith and several cabinet ministers are participating in the 2026 Global Energy Show in Calgary from June 9 to 11, where more than 1,000 delegates from over 100 countries are expected to attend.
The province says the event provides an opportunity to showcase Alberta’s energy sector, attract investment and strengthen relationships with international governments and industry leaders.
Smith said growing uncertainty in global energy markets has increased the importance of secure and dependable energy suppliers.
The conference comes as energy security has returned to the forefront of global discussions following supply disruptions and tensions affecting major energy-producing regions.
Alberta officials plan to promote the province’s oil and natural gas resources, emerging critical mineral opportunities and energy technologies developed by Alberta companies.
Energy and Minerals Minister Brian Jean said Alberta is well-positioned to help meet growing global demand for reliable energy.
The province is home to some of the world’s largest oil reserves and significant natural gas resources, while also pursuing development opportunities in lithium and other critical minerals.
Government representatives will meet with international officials and industry executives during the conference to discuss investment opportunities, market access and Alberta’s role in global energy supply chains.
The annual Global Energy Show is held in Calgary’s BMO Centre and features keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities involving governments, producers, technology companies and investors from around the world.
The event is widely regarded as one of North America’s largest energy conferences and serves as a platform for discussions on energy security, innovation, emissions reduction technologies and future energy development.
Industry representatives say the conference allows Canadian producers to highlight their role in supplying energy to domestic and international markets while supporting economic growth.
The Alberta government says it intends to use the event to reinforce the province’s position as a long-term energy partner and to promote opportunities for future investment in its resource sector.
