FORT McMURRAY — Property tax notices for the 2026 taxation year are now being mailed to residential and commercial property owners across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
The municipality says payments must be made or electronically processed through a financial institution by June 30 to avoid late penalties.
Wood Buffalo council approved the 2026 Property Tax Rate Bylaw during its April 28 meeting with no changes to municipal tax rates.
The municipality says it expects to collect approximately $519 million in municipal property taxes this year to support local programs and services.
Residents can pay property taxes through banks and financial institutions, online banking, the municipality’s online payment portal or in person at municipal offices.
The municipality is also continuing to offer its Tax Installment Payment Plan, commonly known as TIPP, which allows eligible property owners to make monthly payments rather than a single annual payment.
Officials are encouraging property owners to review the municipality’s online property tax breakdown for more information on how tax revenue is allocated across municipal services and operations.
Residents who recently purchased property are also being reminded to update their mailing information with the municipality.
The municipality says property owners who have not received a tax notice by June 7 should contact Pulse for assistance.
