FORT MCMURRAY — Residents across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo are being invited to showcase their creativity through this year’s Street Banner Program.
Public Art Wood Buffalo is calling for submissions from artists aged 12 and older, with selected designs to be displayed on street banners throughout Fort McMurray and surrounding communities.
The 2026 theme, “Everyday Heroism, Local Legends,” encourages artists to highlight individuals who make a difference through acts of kindness, community service or personal achievement.
Selected artists will receive a $600 design fee and have their work professionally produced and installed as part of the program.
Residents in communities including Anzac, Janvier, Conklin, Fort McKay and Fort Chipewyan are also eligible to have their designs featured locally.
All submissions will be exhibited at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park from June 22 to July 31, with artwork available for pickup beginning Aug. 10.
The deadline to apply is May 21 at 4 p.m., with additional details available through the municipality’s public art program website.
