FORT McMURRAY — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is asking residents to provide feedback on this year’s WinterPLAY festival.
The municipality has launched an online survey inviting people to share their experiences and suggestions following the annual winter celebration held in Fort McMurray.
WinterPLAY is a free, family-friendly festival typically staged at Snye Point Park and Borealis Park and features a range of outdoor attractions highlighting northern culture.
Activities generally include the Shootout on the Snye pond hockey tournament, ice sculptures, leisure skating, dog sled rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, fireworks and Indigenous cultural programming, along with food vendors such as a maple “sugar shack.”
The 2026 event ran from Feb. 20 to 24. Organizers were forced to cancel the Shootout on the Snye tournament because of extreme cold temperatures.
Residents can complete the feedback survey through the municipality’s website.
