FORT McKay— Alberta’s Environment and Protected Areas ministry has approved an amendment allowing the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to proceed with upgrades to raw water supply infrastructure serving Fort McKay, according to a public notice issued by the municipality.
The notice says the amendment approval was issued under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act for the Fort McKay Raw Water Supply Infrastructure Rehabilitation project.
According to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the project includes construction of a raw water intake, a raw water supply pipeline and related infrastructure to supply water to the Fort McKay water treatment plant.
The municipality says the treatment plant is located in the northwest quarter of Section 25, Township 94, Range 11, west of the Fourth Meridian.
The public notice says the approval was issued under EPEA Approval No. 685-03-00.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says people who wish to appeal the decision can file with the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board.
According to the notice, a notice of appeal must be submitted within 30 days of the date of the decision and must reference Application No. 018-685.
