FORT McMURRAY – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is seeking feedback from residents on the Abasand Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) pilot project. The project, which has been in place since 2024, has allowed residents to drive their OHV’s across specific residential routes to OHV staging areas and then onto the extensive trail system outside the Urban Service Area.
The Abasand Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Pilot Project is scheduled to end May 1, 2026. The RMWB is asking for residents to share their feedback through an online survey ending February 12, 2026.
The Abasand OHV Pilot Project was created with the goals of improving the off-highway vehicle user experience, increasing neighbourhood trail safety, and reducing damage to green spaces.. Respondents are asked to indicate which, if any, of these goals they believe have been achieved.
Residents are also being asked if they have been personally impacted by the project, and if it has had a positive impact on the neighbourhood.
Residents can fill out the survey at the following link: https://participate.rmwb.ca/ohvpilot
