Highway 881 Alberta Sign
FORT MCMURRAY — Highway 881 has reopened following a temporary closure caused by a semi-trailer blocking both lanes of traffic south of Conklin.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said the highway was shut down earlier after officers responded to a semi-trailer stopped at mile marker 174, just south of the community. Traffic was halted in both directions while police managed the scene and worked to clear the roadway.
RCMP later advised the obstruction had been removed and Highway 881 was fully reopened to traffic.
Motorists are reminded to check Alberta 511 for the latest road and travel updates before heading out, particularly during winter driving conditions.
