Second-generation Indigenous entrepreneur brings business and advocacy experience to the role
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — The Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association has appointed Angela Maxson as its new executive director.
Maxson, a member of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, is president of Creekline Inc., a company she co-founded with her father in 2013. She also has a background in social work, including time as a hospital Indigenous liaison with the Athabasca Tribal Council.
Sandy Sanderson, president of NAABA’s board, says Maxson brings a blend of entrepreneurial leadership and community advocacy that reflects the group’s values.
Maxson says she hopes to build on NAABA’s vision of supporting Indigenous businesses and sees the role as an opportunity to help create a path for future generations to succeed in entrepreneurship.
The association represents Indigenous businesses in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and requires certified members to be majority Indigenous-owned and locally operated.
