Anton Grandjambe, 23, to be sentenced Nov. 18 after admitting to manslaughter
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — A Fort McKay man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2023 shooting death of Russell John Shott.
According to the Crown, Anton Grandjambe, 23, entered the plea on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, in Fort McMurray Court of Justice. Sentencing arguments are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.
The guilty plea comes from charges laid in 2023. RCMP said officers were called to a home on Target Road in Fort McKay around 3 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2023, for a firearms complaint. A 60-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after. He was later identified as Shott.
An arrest warrant was issued the same week for Grandjambe, then 21. RCMP described him as armed and dangerous and advised residents to shelter in place before he was taken into custody later that month.
