Officers seized suspected fentanyl, meth and heroin
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — Four people are facing drug trafficking charges after Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity at a downtown convenience store.
Police say they were called to a Circle K on King Street next to Keyano College around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 30. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot, arresting four people without incident.
Investigators say they seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, drug paraphernalia and $500 in cash.
Jacob Degelder, 43, and Vincent Hawes, 37, both from Edmonton, and Cory Fitzpatrick, 39, of Fort McKay, each face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
Paige Tuccaro, 32, of Fort McMurray, faces the same charges along with failing to comply with a release condition.
All four were released on conditions following judicial hearings. Fitzpatrick and Tuccaro are due in court on Sept. 9, while Degelder and Hawes are scheduled to appear Sept. 17.
RCMP are continuing to encourage the public to report criminal or suspicious activity, saying it helps officers target patrols and investigations.
