CALGARY – A Calgary man accused of human trafficking is facing additional charges after allegedly attempting to pressure victims into not co-operating with court proceedings.
Neylson Benoit-Ancion, 33, was originally charged with human trafficking-related offences by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in March 2026.
He was rearrested Oct. 19 and charged with failing to comply with release conditions and obstruction of justice.
Investigators allege Benoit-Ancion attempted to coerce some of his previously identified victims into withholding their co-operation in the ongoing court proceedings.
“Victim safety and well-being has always been at the forefront of our investigation. These new charges demonstrate our commitment to justice and hopefully show other victims that they are safe to come forward,” said ALERT Staff Sgt. Matt Pumphrey.
Although the original sex trafficking allegations involve activities in Calgary, the investigation has extended across Canada, with assistance from the Sûreté du Québec Integrated Prostitution Enforcement Squad and the RCMP H-Division Provincial Human Trafficking Team.
ALERT says several alleged victims have already been identified, but investigators believe there is a strong likelihood of additional victims elsewhere in Canada.
Police are encouraging anyone who believes they may have been victimized, or who has information about the investigation, to come forward.
Benoit-Ancion remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 7.
Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Survivors of human trafficking can also call 211 for assistance and support.
ALERT is a provincially funded law enforcement organization that brings together specialized police resources to investigate serious and organized crime across Alberta.
The allegations against Benoit-Ancion have not been proven in court.
