FORT MCMURRAY — A traffic stop in Thickwood has led to drug trafficking charges against two people after Wood Buffalo RCMP say officers seized suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine and GHB.
Police say officers were patrolling Fort McMurray at about 1:42 a.m. on Sept. 30 when they noticed a vehicle travelling below the posted speed limit.
A traffic stop was conducted on Birch Road in Thickwood.
RCMP say a passenger in the vehicle was found to be breaching conditions of a release order and was arrested.
A search following the arrest turned up about one ounce of suspected cocaine, 2.5 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 2.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine, suspected GHB and $175 in cash.
Raylene Gibot, 30, of Fort McMurray, is charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Gibot has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice on Nov. 10.
The driver, who police say cannot be named until an Information is sworn, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and released at the scene.
The driver is also scheduled to appear in court Nov. 10.
These allegations have not been proven in court.
