FORT MCMURRAY — Elections Alberta is looking for more than 110 Election Day workers in Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche ahead of the Oct. 19 referendum.
More than 80 workers are still needed in Fort McMurray, while another 30 are needed in Lac La Biche.
Workers are also being sought in Plamondon, Anzac, Janvier and Conklin, along with counting staff throughout the Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche electoral division.
Returning Officer Briget Vezeau says there are paid opportunities available for people who can work on Election Day or help count ballots.
She says Elections Alberta is particularly interested in hearing from residents who can work in their own communities.
The positions are paid, training is provided and no previous election experience is required.
Some of the hardest positions to fill include voting officers, record clerks and counting officers.
In Anzac, Janvier and Conklin, Elections Alberta is especially looking for local residents who can staff voting places in their communities.
Vezeau says the work offers people a chance to earn extra money, work alongside others from their community and help make sure voters across the region can take part in the referendum.
Anyone interested in working during the Oct. 19 referendum is encouraged to apply through Elections Alberta.
