Suspect in RCMP Arson investigation
FORT MCMURRAY — Wood Buffalo RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect as they continue investigating multiple fires reported in downtown Fort McMurray over the weekend.
Police say the fires occurred Sept. 19 and investigators have now obtained surveillance video showing a suspect in the area at the time.
RCMP had previously confirmed officers and Forensic Identification Services responded to a reported arson in the downtown area around 10 a.m. that day.
Residents also reported separate incidents from the same night, including a backyard swing set being set on fire and an attempted theft of a Ryker. Police have not confirmed whether those incidents are connected.
