McKay Métis Group making major donation to the Fort McKay Metis nation in 2026
FORT McKAY — Métis Days has wrapped up in Fort McKay following a weekend of culture, community and celebration, but not before a $90,000 investment was announced to support cultural programming.
McKay Métis Group presented the Fort McKay Métis Nation with the contribution during the annual celebration, held Aug. 7 to 9 at the Fort McKay Community Centre.
The $90,000 donation will support cultural programming for the Nation and its members.
McKay Métis Group serves as the business arm of the Fort McKay Métis Nation, with economic benefits generated through its operations flowing back to the Nation and its members.
The organization says the contribution reflects a broader purpose behind its business activities, creating opportunities while supporting the community.
The presentation came during a well-attended Métis Days celebration, which brought together Nation members, families, friends and visitors for three days of activities.
The annual gathering celebrates Métis culture and community through traditional activities, storytelling, music and dancing.
McKay Métis Group and its divisions also participated in the festivities.
The organization thanked the Fort McKay Métis Nation, event organizers and those who attended this year’s celebration.
