Alberta Emergency Alert Test
EDMONTON — Albertans will receive a test emergency alert Tuesday afternoon as the province checks its public warning system across multiple platforms.
The Government of Alberta says the test will take place May 6 at 1:55 p.m. and messages will be broadcast through television, radio, cellphones and tablets.
Officials say the alert is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the emergency notification system is functioning properly and capable of delivering critical information during disasters and other emergencies.
The Alberta Emergency Alert system is used to send urgent public safety information and instructions during situations considered potentially life-threatening.
Residents are encouraged to confirm their devices are compatible with the national Alert Ready system and to download the Alberta Emergency Alert mobile app to receive notifications specific to their area.
The province says the test is only a drill and no action will be required from the public.
