Alberta Expands Measles Advisories as Outbreak Grows
EDMONTON — Alberta Health Services has issued 24 active measles exposure advisories across the province as the outbreak continues to grow.
The advisories span a wide area, from Waterton Park in the south to Grande Prairie in the north. Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo is one of the few regions not currently affected.
AHS has also issued a standing measles exposure advisory for the South Zone, which will remain in effect until further notice. Officials say the risk of contracting measles in southern Alberta is significant and urge anyone living, working, or travelling in the region to be aware of the increased threat.
The outbreak is most severe in the province’s southern areas. Health authorities are asking all Albertans to check their vaccination records and ensure their measles immunizations are up to date.
