Suncor and SMS Equipment are excited to unveil the latest addition to their fleet at the Fort Hills oil sands site: the Komatsu PC9000, the largest mining hydraulic shovel on the market. Last week, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the debut of the PC9000, which is purpose-built to match Suncor’s 980E-class mining trucks. The shovel boasts increased power, higher digging force, and an extended arm reach, allowing for greater efficiency in loading. This innovation continues Suncor’s commitment to driving progress in the oil sands.
