Due to recent rain and lower temperatures, the wildfire danger level is low in the Fort McMurray Forest Area, and fire officials are urging everyone to take extra care. Temperatures are expected to increase by the weekend these conditions will create ideal conditions for wildfires to ignite and spread. If you’re having a campfire or doing any burning, be extremely cautious, and remember, fire permits are required for all burning except campfires. Since the start of the year, Alberta has seen 207 wildfires, with eight currently active, including two in the Fort McMurray Forest Area. With conditions expected to stay warm and windy, the risk will remain high. If you see smoke or flames in the forest, report it right away by calling 310-FIRE.
