Firefighters in Fort McMurray will once again brave the elements this week, not for an emergency, but for charity.
The Fort McMurray Firefighters Charities Association is holding its annual rooftop campout from Thursday, May 1st to Saturday, May 3rd. Crews will climb onto the roof of the Tim Hortons in Eagle Ridge Thursday afternoon at 3:15, led by the Fort McMurray Fire Department Honour Guard.
The three-day fundraiser supports several local organizations, including the Fort McMurray SPCA, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Waypoints, the Centre of Hope, and the Boys and Girls Club.
On Friday night, the public is invited to take part in a 50/50 fundraiser at East Village Pub and Eatery. The campout wraps up Saturday morning with a family pancake breakfast at EVP beginning at 9:00 a.m., as firefighters make their way back down from the roof.
