
Human remains found near Fort McMurray are under investigation
Fort McMurray, Alta. — Wood Buffalo RCMP and the Alberta Major Crimes Unit are investigating after human remains were discovered near Fort McMurray. Details are sparse as police continue their investigation.
The remains were found on April 25 off Tower Road, which is currently closed to traffic. Cst. Corey Riggs with the RCMP says they won’t know the cause of death, or if foul play is involved, until the autopsy is completed on Monday or Tuesday.
Police are asking anyone who travelled on Tower Road between 12:30 p.m. on April 24 and 2:30 p.m. on April 25 to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040. Information can also be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
No additional details have been released at this time, but Harvard Media will update the story when new information becomes available.
