Armed robbery suspect arrested with publics help

Thanks to public assistance the Wood Buffalo RCMP was able to make an arrest in relation to an armed robbery at a liquor store in the Thickwood area of Fort McMurray.

Derrick James Zorn was arrested on Friday and charged with robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

On March 25, the suspect had entered the business and attempted to leave with $50 worth of liquor without paying.

As a staff member walked toward the individual, he pulled out a knife, left the store, and fled on foot.

RCMP was able to make the arrest following a tip from the public.

33-year-old Zorn has been released from custody on a Release Order and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, in Fort McMurray.
