Alberta Investing $176 Million In To Emission Reduction Projects

The Government of Alberta (GoA) is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to cut emissions in the future.

Using up to $176 million for 16 projects, the GoA’s plan is to cut almost 7 million tonnes of emissions by 2030. $126 million is coming from the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction system (TIER), and $50 million is coming from the federal Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund (LCELF).

TIER funding comes from large industry that pay in to the fund when they do not meet emissions targets.

Funding is being delivered through Emissions Reduction Alberta’s Shovel-Ready Challenge, and in doing so, this will support about 5,600 jobs while injecting $2 billion into Alberta’s economy, according to the GoA.
