I don’t know what they think a teaser means, because this is the first full trailer for the Fantastic 4 that we’ve been waiting for. Very clever with the powers being an analogy for each person’s personality. Reed is stretched in too many directions, Ben is an emotional rock, Johnny is a hot head, and Sue is the woman who feels invisible at times but is always ready to protect the people she cares about. Fantastic. And we get a glimpse of Galactus, but in small form. Smallactus.
How does this stack up in the MCU? It’s tough to tell, but all signs point to this iteration of Marvel’s first family being in a different universe than the mainline Ironman/Cap/Thor one we started with. However, since this is part of Phase Six which is within the Multiverse Saga, expect dimension-hopped shenanigans.
And prepare for an absolute onslaught of new Marvel properties in 2025. We’re already seeing the roll-out of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, then Captain America: Brave New World arrives in February, Daredevil: Born Again starts in March, Thunderbolts+ comes out in May, Ironheart begins in June, and this movie will launch in July (to compete with James Gunn’s Superman).
Thankfully this year is a bit of an anomaly, as uber-producer Kevin Feige has said that after this rush we can expect more like 2 movies and a couple of shows per year.
