The second annual ‘Green Shirt Day’ is being recognized across the country.
The day is set to honour Logan Boulet, who passed away in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, as his parents donated his organs which saved six lives.
Theresa Wells, who received a corneal transplant two years ago, tells Mix News Logan has really inspired more people to become organ donors.
“That brought it home and people said ‘you know what, I’m gonna take that step, register as an organ donor’ and we’ve seen some really positive things happen as a result.”

Surveys show the majority of people support the idea, however, only a small amount have taken the time to become an organ donor.
Wells believes the best path forward is to make everybody an organ donor unless they opt-out.
“Presumed consent is a bit controversial but I think it becomes fare less controversial when you think about the fact that, quite frankly, it’s going to save lives.”
The GoA has previously discussed possible presumed consent legislation.
