Wood Buffalo RCMP is seeking public assistance regarding multiple dangerous driving incidences within Fort McMurray.
Police received complaints of an individual speeding and stunting on a dirt bike Thursday afternoon on Tundra Drive near Signal Road, and that the driver nearly struck students crossing the street and then drove through a red light.
Following the reported incident, the driver was spotted several more times stunting on Hwy. 63 toward Downtown and was last seen traveling northbound on Woodland Drive.
Additional witnesses reported seeing a male driving a Yamaha dirt bike dangerously in and around the school zone along Signal Road at 11:50 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m.
Police received more reports that a dirt bike was driving dangerously in the Thickwood and Woodland area, where a black dirt bike was reported swerving, driving erratically, and doing “wheelies”.
It is unknown if the incidences are related, but police have indicated similarities in the descriptions of both the driver, bike, and driving pattern.
The bike is described as:
- Blue and white Yamaha
- Blue chrome rims
- No licence plate
The suspect driver was described as:
- youth or young adult male
- dark brown hair
- wearing a black facemask / neck warmer
- white shirt
- blue sweater
- blue jeans
