Fort McMurray and the rural areas are both seeing increases in active COVID-19 cases.
According to the province, there are 35 active cases in the community and 16 in the hamlets across Wood Buffalo.
The only spots where there are outbreaks are CNRL’s Albian site and Suncor’s Fort Hills site.
When it comes to spread of the virus, the rural areas are currently the sixth worst in the province.
The communities are averaging nearly 395 cases per 100,000 individuals.
As for Fort McMurray, the are continues to see the lowest rate and active numbers among Alberta’s major communities.
Red Deer and Lethbridge are the closest to the community’s totals as they’re currently dealing with 96 and 98 cases respectively.
Calgary, Edmonton, Medicine Hat, and Grande Prairie are all seeing much higher numbers.
Meanwhile, over 58 per cent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated from COVID-19.
Around 38,000 individuals in Fort McMurray born in 2009 or earlier have received two doses.
The rural areas remain far back, sitting at over 39 per cent.
Fort McMurray and the rural areas continue to be below the provincial average which currently sits at roughly 68 per cent.
