An arrest warrant is being issued for a 39-year-old Conklin man.
Around 7 p.m. on August 8, Lac La Biche RCMP conducted a traffic stop in the community.
During a search of the vehicle, they ended up finding multiple firearms and what appeared to be a pipe bomb.
Alberta RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit was called in and were able to dispose of it safely.
The driver, 34-year-old Janet Melissa Richards from Conklin, was arrested.
She’s since been charged with possessing an explosive substance without lawful excuse, two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle, transporting liquor in an open container, driving while unauthorized, and failing to obey a traffic control device.
Richards has since been released from custody and will make her next court appearance on August 30 in Lac La Biche.
The Mounties have also issued arrest warrants for two passengers, 39-year-old Calvin Stanley Ballantyne of Conklin and 40-year-old Suzie Amanda Cardinal of Lac La Biche, who left the scene before Richards was arrested.
Ballantyne is 5’6”, around 180 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He also has tattoos of letters on his neck, a feline on his chest, and a dragon on his left arm.
Cardinal is 5’3″, around 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Both are known to frequent Conklin and Lac La Biche.
