Nearly 35 per cent of Fort McMurray residents born in 2009 or earlier have gotten their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The province introduced a new map on Monday highlighting the number of people in each area who’ve received the dose.
In total, 27,314 residents have gotten the vaccine with those between the ages of 40-59 leading the way.
Over half of the region’s population in this group have received at least one dose.
More than 8,800 people between the ages of 20-39 have also gotten the shot, however, this only represents approximately 31 per cent of residents in this range.
The 60-74 age group has seen roughly 4,300 people get the shot, while just over 1,500 individuals between the ages of 12-19 have taken part.
The smallest age group is those 75 years and older with nearly 500 people getting the shot. This does represent nearly two-thirds of this population, the highest participation in the community.
As for the rural areas, just under 1,000 individuals have received their first shot. This represents around one-fourth of the population outside of Fort McMurray.

Fort McMurray is seeing another drop in active COVID-19 cases.
The province also announced on Monday 721 new cases in the province over the past day.
There are currently 21,288 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 219,682 positive tests.
There are also 678 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 181 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 64 new cases and 104 recoveries in the past 24 hours which puts the active total at 1,400.
The rural areas added one new case and seven recoveries, lowering the total of active cases to 62.
Wood Buffalo National Park’s active total remains at two.
Fort McMurray remains the worst in the province when it comes to spread of the virus.
The community is averaging around 1,762 cases per 100,000 people.
The rural areas are now third with the Municipal District Of Bighorn officially passing them on Monday.
In total, 4,818 individuals across the RMWB – 4,593 in Fort McMurray, 215 in the rural areas, and 10 in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 196,246 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 89 per cent of reported cases.
There were also five new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 2,148.
To date, five individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
