The Canadian Red Cross has nearly spent all or committed all the funds they received to help people affected by the Horse River wildfire.
The organization recently provided a five-year financial update which noted, as of March 31, 2021, $331.9 million has been used to support families, businesses, and community groups.
Another $5.8 million was used to support people impacted by last year’s flood.
This leaves around $2.7 million with nearly everything planned on being used to support individuals and families. There’s also approximately $100,000 left for businesses impacted by the wildfire.
“The Red Cross thanks generous individuals, governments, community groups, and corporate partners who donated an unprecedented amount of funds in support of people impacted by the Alberta Fires,” read the Red Cross’s update.
“Together, we continue to have a lasting impact on individuals, families, and the entire community as they recover.”
In total, over $235 million has been used to help individuals and families, $52 million for community groups, and just under $30 million for businesses.
