Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is dropping slightly.
The province announced on Saturday 556 new cases over the past day across Alberta.
There are currently 5,618 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 141,379 positive tests. There are also 279 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 47 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added two new cases and three recoveries which lowers the active total to 25.
The rural areas saw one recovery in the past 24 hours, lowering the total of active cases to two.
Wood Buffalo National Park also continues to have one active case.
In total, 1,909 individuals across the RMWB – 1,763 in Fort McMurray, 137 in the rural areas, and nine in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 133,800 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 95 per cent of reported cases.
There were also four new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total at 1,961.
To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
