Fort McMurray and the rural areas are seeing drops in their active COVID-19 cases.
The province announced on Wednesday 1,287 new cases across Alberta over the past 24 hours.
This raises the provincial total to 100,428 with 14,555 currently active. There are also 921 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 152 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 12 new cases and 21 additional recoveries which lowers the active total to 214.
The rural areas saw two recoveries and no new cases which puts the total of active cases at five.
In total, 1,219 individuals across the RMWB – 1098 in Fort McMurray, 116 in the rural areas, and five in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 84,827 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 84 per cent of reported cases.
There were also 18 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 1046.
To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
