Prime Minister Mark Carney said the awards recognize educators for helping young Canadians build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
“Education is one of the most powerful forces for transforming our country and shaping our shared future,” Carney said.
The Prime Minister’s Awards were created in 1994 and have since recognized more than 2,300 Canadian educators.
This year’s 60 recipients were selected from 221 nominations through a two-tier process involving more than 100 volunteers from education and early childhood education communities across Canada.
Nominations are also now open for the 2027 awards and will be accepted until Jan. 13.
