FORT MCMURRAY — The first official Read Across Wood Buffalo Day is just around the corner.
The annual community initiative will be observed Sept. 25 under the theme Many Stories. Shared Humanity.
Organizer Juleus Ghunta says the day is intended to celebrate reading, literacy, storytelling and community connection across the region.
The initiative was launched earlier this year, with organizers encouraging residents, schools, families and community groups to consider how they can take part.
This year’s ambassador is Shaylean Gladu.
Organizers say additional details about specific activities planned for the day will be released closer to Sept. 25.
Read Across Wood Buffalo Day is intended to become an annual observance, using reading and storytelling as a way to bring people together and highlight the range of experiences and perspectives within the community.
