FORT McMURRAY — Members of the Fort McKay First Nation are being invited to access in-person mental health counselling beginning Tuesday.
The First Nation says registered psychiatric nurse Bev Nackoney will provide mental health support in the community from Aug. 18 to 20, with another series of appointments scheduled for Sept. 15 to 17.
Virtual appointments are also available.
Nackoney holds a master’s degree in counselling and has decades of experience in mental health care, including more than 30 years working with Indigenous clients and communities across Canada.
The Fort McKay First Nation says counselling will focus on each person’s goals, strengths and overall well-being, with an emphasis on respectful, culturally safe and person-centred support.
Nackoney is also an approved provider under the federal Non-Insured Health Benefits program.
The First Nation says all services are confidential and delivered according to professional and ethical standards.
Appointments can be booked by calling or texting Nackoney at 403-461-3655 or by emailing gentlestreamcounselling@gmail.com.
