FORT McMURRAY — We’re less than two weeks away from a chance to get an up-close look at some of the equipment used to keep Wood Buffalo moving throughout the year.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is hosting its Show & Shine with Public Works on Aug. 25 and 26 at the North Operations Centre.
The free event will feature snowplows, street sweepers, transit buses and other municipal vehicles used for everything from road maintenance to wildlife patrols.
Visitors will be able to explore the equipment and learn more about the work performed by Public Works crews across the region.
Family activities will also be offered, including barricade painting and a self-guided plant walk.
The Show & Shine runs from 9 a.m. until noon both days at the North Operations Centre at 24 Silin Forest Road.
A sensory-friendly hour is planned for Aug. 26 from 9 to 10 a.m. for individuals and families who prefer a quieter environment with less stimulation.
Admission is free and registration is not required.
People attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
