FORT McMURRAY — A 61-year-old Fort McMurray woman is facing several charges following a stabbing in the city’s downtown area Sunday evening.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say officers responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a report of a stabbing near the A&W on Franklin Avenue.
The victim was taken to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the suspect left the area before officers arrived, driving away in an orange Nissan Kicks.
Investigators obtained video footage along with a description of the suspect.
RCMP say officers quickly located the vehicle and suspect, who was arrested without incident.
Bella Tizya of Fort McMurray has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Tizya was initially held in custody for a judicial interim release hearing and has since been released.
She is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Sept. 16.
The charges have not been proven in court.
