This time last year the likelihood of ever watching “Coyote vs. Acme” was absolutely nil. In early 2025 the film’s star, Will Forte, raged against the decision made by WB to shelve the complete film to save $30M in a tax write-off. That’s when Ketchup Entertainment stepped in to buy the rights to the film outright. They have locked in a theatrical release for August 28th, and we need to go see it in theatres because WB will be unable to make a further cent from the release of the movie.
While it might not hit the soaring global success heights of KPop Demon Hunters, it does echo the sale of rights to THAT movie from Sony to Netflix following a lack of confidence it would make enough cash from audiences. Just like the titular Acme Inc. in the film, it’s clear that the giant conglomerations with no regard for the hard work of those in their employ are the real bad guys.
