Well that’s a fine trailer as trailers go. But I need some more. The first full trailer for the new Masters of the Universe live action adaptation puts a focus on He-Man and Skeletor. The hero and the scary big bad of Eternia. Now, the huge cast of quirky unique characters from the 80’s cartoon version of Masters of the Universe were invented to sell as many toys to kids as possible, but they are also one of the most interesting things about the show. And we can SEE that many of them are around for this ride, but we don’t get any of their charm in the trailer. Still plenty of time for that to come, the summer release is out on the big screen June 5th.
Next up is the latest trailer for James Gunn’s Supergirl – following up the extremely charming Superman reboot from last summer. “He sees the good in everyone. I see the truth.” That quote tells you so much about the troubled Kara Zor-El from Krypton. While it certainly seems to keep that same James Gunn charm, the tone of this movie certainly seems a lot harsher and darker than the last adventure. Hands up for Jason Momoa as space-biker Lobo, as well. He fits this role so much more than Snyder’s Aquaman.
