One-on-one engagement sessions are starting this week for property owners in three of the flood-prone areas.
Municipal staff will look to speak with residents with homes or businesses under 250.9 metres in Waterways over the next couple of days, followed by Ptarmigan Court next week, and properties in Draper below the 250.9-metre mark later this month.
This will happen through door to door visits, over the phone, and through email. Residents will also see electronic signage, social media messages, and additional content on the RMWB’s website as reminders.
Property Owners are encouraged to set up a time through Pulse.
“We are appreciative of the many residents that have already participated in engagement. We need as much dialogue as possible for our next update to Council, so we encourage all property owners to participate,” said Matthew Hough, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer.
Wood Buffalo council met over four days in September where they decided to continue engagement in Waterways, Draper, and Ptarmigan Court. They’re hoping to get a better idea of how many owners what to stay in the neighbourhoods, what flood mitigation should look like, and more.
As for downtown, Longboat Landing, and Taiga Nova Eco-Industrial Park, council decided to continue flood mitigation work.
