When the first season of the Legendary Monsterverse spin-off show Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters arrived on Apple TV+ one of the first complaints was about the lack of monsters showing up in a monster show. “You are going to have, uh, dinosaurs on your, uh, dinosaur tour?” I was watching along with everybody else, and I don’t know what the issue was. They had monsters in every episode, and introduced 3, maybe 4 brand new monsters into the roster. That’s without mentioning how great some of the performances are – in particular the work of Anna Sawai who went on to gain a lot of attention for her turn in season one of Shōgun on FX.
I suspect this compilation video has been shared as a means of both marketing the upcoming second season, and to dispel comments about the so-called lack before S2 arrives in late February. As a BIG monster movie fan (any Goji Center fans here?) I cannot wait to see what reveals and bigger-than-big moments are in store for this very expensive show.
