EDMONTON — Alberta’s minister of affordability and utilities is travelling to Montana this week to strengthen cross-border energy partnerships and discuss power grid reliability.
The Alberta government says Nathan Neudorf will be in Helena from Jan. 6 to 7 to attend the Montana Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Days at the Capitol. Neudorf is scheduled to deliver a keynote address and meet with elected officials, business leaders and policy experts.
The discussions are expected to focus on shared power infrastructure, interties, grid modernization and energy innovation. The government says collaboration with neighbouring jurisdictions such as Montana plays a key role in keeping Alberta’s electricity system affordable, reliable and sustainable.
The trip will also be used to promote Alberta as a destination for investment, including in its competitive electricity market and emerging sectors such as data centres and nuclear energy.
“Meeting rising electricity demands means looking beyond our borders,” Neudorf said in a statement. “Powering up our electrical ties with Montana is about building a strong foundation for shared energy security, while ensuring electricity remains reliable and affordable for generations.”
The government says expenses related to the mission will be disclosed on its public travel and expense reporting page.
