PARKLAND COUNTY, AB. — Parkland RCMP have released images of two suspect vehicles as they search for a stolen trailer carrying 15 youth sport wheelchairs belonging to the Northern Lights Wheelchair Basketball Society.
Police say the trailer was taken from a high school in the Stony Plain area on Nov. 24. It is a white 2025 Royal Cargo enclosed trailer with the society’s decal on the side. The wheelchairs inside are valued at roughly $15,000 and are used in school programs that introduce students to adaptive sports.
RCMP now say two trucks are believed to be linked to the theft. One is described as a grey pickup, possibly a Ford Super Duty or a Chevrolet Silverado. The second is a red truck, possibly another Ford Super Duty. Officers are gathering surveillance footage and asking anyone who recognizes the vehicles to come forward.
Const. Brody Dyson said earlier this week that the loss hits a youth program rather than a competitive team and that the items are unique and easily identifiable. The investigation remains in its early stages.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Parkland RCMP at 825 220 2000 or call Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.
