FORT McMURRAY — The Fort McMurray NDP is holding its annual general meeting today, with members gathering to elect a new executive and begin preparations for the next provincial election.
The meeting runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lions Clubhouse on Tolen Drive. Edmonton MLA Nathan Ip is scheduled to attend as a guest, joining local New Democrats as they set priorities for the coming year.
Party organizers say anyone interested in supporting the local team is welcome to attend. Voting and the ability to run for executive positions such as president and treasurer are limited to people with active Alberta NDP memberships. Members who live outside Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo or Fort McMurray–Lac La Biche must transfer their membership to participate.
The party says recurring monthly donations no longer renew memberships automatically following an Elections Alberta ruling, meaning supporters must confirm their status before voting.
Organizers say the AGM is open to long-time members and newcomers alike, and that donations to support the local constituency association are welcome from those unable to attend. Anyone with questions can contact the team by email.
