Keyano College is reopening several buildings that were damaged by April’s flood.
The Clearwater Campus, the Syncrude Sports and Wellness Centre, the Oilsands Power and Processing Engineering Lab, Bob Lamb Buildings, all student housing, and more were damaged – costing around $48 million.
The campus, wellness centre, and engineering lab are set to open for staff on August 24, while student housing at Penhorwood and Clearwater Hall are expected to be ready at the end of the month.
The SSWC is expected to be open to the public in mid-September.
“The success of this project would not have been possible without the teamwork and dedication displayed by the College’s partners,” said Tracy Boyde, Vice President, Infrastructure and CIO.
“Although some work is still ongoing to deal with some deficiencies, those will not impact College operations.”
Work continues to fix damage at the Bob Lamb Building and Riedel Housing.
Riedel is expected to be done by the end of October, while there’s no confirmed timeline for the Bob Lamb Building.
