It actually counts as the first trailer for the next live-action Spider-Man adventure, though not exactly the first look we’ve had at the movie. Tom Holland showed up earlier this week in a video declaring that the first clips from the first trailer would be shared by the fans. We saw Spidey fixing his mask before jumping off of a building, we saw him getting creamed by an armoured assault van that was looking pretty Punisher-esque, we saw Peter looking sick or burnt out or both, and we’ve seen what looks like The Hand attacking Spider-Man in a prison setting.
Now all of those clips are in full trailer format, giving us a lot more context, but not answering many more questions. We learn that Jon Berthal’s Punisher IS going to appear as an antagonist to our friendly neighbourhood star. We also get a few lines directly from Professor Bruce Banner talking about mutating DNA. And we’re getting glimpses of a pile of Spider-Man villains.
Besides Punisher we’ve got: Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula, more minions from The Hand, and WHOEVER Sadie Sink is playing in this movie. Still unclear, but some are theorizing that the X-Men mutants will be loosely connected and that she’s playing a young Jean Grey. We’ll find out all about it when the movie releases July 31st.
