Rendering Visions World Premier
FORT McMURRAY — Tickets are now on sale to the general public for the world premiere of Rendering Visions, a locally produced documentary celebrating Fort McMurray’s arts community.
The film will debut November 6 at the Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts, beginning with an Artist Showcase Market and exhibit at 6:30 p.m., followed by the screening at 7:30 and a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Directed by Ashley Laurenson, Rendering Visions explores how artists in Fort McMurray merge traditional and digital art forms to tell stories of creativity and resilience. The documentary features 12 local artists and highlights Arts Council Wood Buffalo’s vision for an arts incubator to support creative growth.
Laurenson said the premiere is a chance to show how the arts are flourishing in a community often defined by industry. “Fort McMurray isn’t just the home of oil and gas,” she said. “It’s also a place for a growing arts community.”
Funded by TELUS STORYHIVE, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the RMWB’s Arts, Culture and Heritage grant, the production includes 22 commissioned local works and music by Fort McMurray performers.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite, with VIP and general admission options and discounts for Arts Council Wood Buffalo members. Featured artists had early access to tickets before general public sales opened this week.
